TL:DR

The mainstream rock and metal scene has been playing it entirely too safe lately. Everything feels calculated, sterilized, and perfectly algorithm-friendly. That is exactly why I stopped writing about new music on this site for a while. I was exhausted by the sheer lack of anything genuinely surprising. But sometimes a track drops out of nowhere and demands your immediate attention. That is exactly what happened this week.

Try Mentos and Soda – TOGETHER

Remember the first time you saw someone drop a Mentos candy into a bottle of diet soda? It was a fast, aggressive, and entirely messy chemical reaction.

Now imagine taking three of those candies and slamming them into a two-liter bottle all at once. That sheer, uncontainable pressure perfectly captures the energy of the new Falling In Reverse single, “Joseph.“

We are not just talking about a standard feature here. We are looking at a volatile mix of distinct heavyweights. You have the theatrical, unpredictable energy of Ronnie Radke anchoring the track. Then you throw in the raw, guttural aggression of Corey Taylor from Slipknot. Finally, you top it off with the eccentric, operatic brilliance of System of a Down’s Serj Tankian.

Individually, these guys know how to command a stadium.

Putting them together on a single track creates a sonic whiplash.

It is a heavy, frantic, and punishing listening experience that hits you exactly when you feel like you have not been yelled at quite enough by the world today. It forces you to sit up, shut up, and pay attention to the chaos unfolding in your headphones.

The Antidote to Mainstream Stagnation

I never actually asked for this specific lineup.

If you had handed me a blank piece of paper yesterday and told me to build a dream vocal roster, I probably would not have put these three names next to each other.

Their styles occupy totally different eras and subgenres of heavy music.

Yet the moment the track kicks in, it makes absolute, undeniable sense. The contrast between Radke’s manic delivery, Taylor’s visceral roar, and Tankian’s haunting melodies creates a desperately needed friction. It is a harsh reminder of what heavy music is supposed to feel like. It should be disruptive. It should make you slightly uncomfortable while simultaneously daring you to turn the volume up.

We have been starved for this kind of high-stakes collaboration. Major artists often avoid sharing the spotlight with equally dominant vocalists because they are afraid of being overshadowed. This track ignores all of that ego and just focuses on the impact. It leaves me sitting here with a massive grin on my face and one lingering, frustrating question.

Why Did We Have to Wait This Long?

Seriously, why only now? Corey Taylor and Serj Tankian have been titans in this industry for over two decades. Ronnie Radke has been pushing the boundaries of what a modern metal track can sound like for years. The fact that it took until late 2026 for the stars to align and put these massive voices in the same room is completely baffling.

It makes you wonder how many other incredible, genre-bending collaborations are just sitting on the table, waiting for someone brave enough to make the call. The success of “Joseph” should be a massive wake-up call to the rest of the industry.

Stop playing it safe, stop worrying about the playlist curators, and start throwing different volatile elements into the mix to see what explodes.

Until the rest of the scene catches up, I will be keeping this track on a permanent loop. It is the perfect soundtrack for cutting through the daily noise and getting some serious work done.

A Final Thought on the Mayhem

I built this corner of the internet to dump my unfiltered thoughts, and today that means acknowledging a masterpiece of pure musical chaos. Sometimes you do not need a deep philosophical takeaway or a complex productivity system to fix your mood. Sometimes you just need three angry guys screaming over a heavy riff to reset your brain.
