It feels like there is always so much going on and a constant stream of new things to read or hear. Lately, I have been falling down a serious rabbit hole with new music discovery. Maybe I am just burnt out on my current playlists, but I have been on a mission to find something that actually feels fresh.

If you know me, you know my taste is a bit of a „mayhem“ mix. I am the kind of person who needs to write everything down in Obsidian to keep track of my interests, which range from finance and World of Warcraft to optimizing my workflow. My musical rotation is no different: I am wide open to anything from Taylor Swift to Knocked Loose.

The Stagnant State of the German Scene

Most of my recent listening has been heavy on the Metalcore. I would love to support some german artists , but honestly? The German scene feels like it has been stuck in neutral for a minute.

Don’t get me wrong, we have had Electric Callboy, and there are some solid vibes coming out of Corrupted Blood Records and the artists they are signing. But even Electric Callboy has started to feel like they have been doing the same shit for too long. The new acts popping up lately aren’t really bringing anything innovative to the table. They are just repeating the same tropes I have heard a thousand times before.

From YouTube Beef to High-Speed References

I am „in the game“ enough on YouTube to know who has beef and who is making moves. I might not know every single detail, but I can definitely hold my own in a conversation about it. That is how I first caught wind of the rap battles involving tj_beastboy.

I thought his battle stuff was cool, but it didn’t really stick… until now. He just dropped a new track that caught me completely off guard. It is a massive Need for Speed style throwback to my youth, and the production is legitimately incredible.

Why This Track Hits Different:

You have to listen to this thing at least 17 times just to catch all the references. It feels like a high-speed chase through a 2000s video game soundtrack. In a landscape of repetitive Metalcore and predictable rap, this is finally something unique and diverse.

And even if I found the ONE PIECE intro more and more annoying over time because it was almost longer than the actual episode… when you hear it again as a sample in a rap track like that, it just hits you differently.

Keeping the Mix Fresh

I started this blog to get the „mayhem“ out of my head so I can work with it. Whether it is a four-hour podcast or a new experimental track, I am always looking for that spark that sticks in the back of my brain.

This track is officially going into my „Music of Mayhem“ playlist (if it lands on Spotify…). It is proof that even when a genre feels stagnant, someone is usually waiting in the wings to break the mold. It is worth the deep dive! Even if you have to hit replay a dozen times to understand what just happened.
